FARGO, ND – Kim Meyer, Gate City Bank’s former Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer, has been elected as a member of the Bank’s board of directors.
The seven-person board has proven essential to upholding the Bank’s unique mission and values, which have helped create a better way of life for customers, communities and team members – for the past 100 years.
“On behalf of Gate City Bank, we’re excited to have Kim bring her decades’ worth of experience in banking, human resources and team member development to our board of directors,” said Steve Swiontek, Chair of the Board. “Kim’s passion for promoting community involvement and a thriving work culture makes her a valuable addition, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome her to this new role.”
Kevin Hanson, Gate City Bank President & CEO, echoed that sentiment, adding that “Kim’s expertise is invaluable, and the ability to have continued access to her wisdom and insight will help move the Bank forward.”
Meyer retired as Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer in April, which marked 37 years of service to Gate City Bank. She spent her tenure playing a role in establishing the company’s distinguished culture, as well as its reputation of being an employer of choice that attracts some of the region’s best talent.
“Working for Gate City Bank has been one of the greatest joys of my lifetime, and I’m honored for this opportunity to continue supporting its mission as a board member,” Meyer said. “I love that this is a place where servant leadership flourishes – where the chance to make a difference is always within reach.”
Originally from Hawley, MN, Meyer earned her associate’s degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 1982. She also attended Human Resource Management School (Graduate School of Banking) in 2001, as well as Stonier Graduate School of Banking in 2011.
Prior to her role as Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer, Meyer has overseen human resources, marketing, deposit operations, retail banking, lending solutions, appraisals and office services.
Meyer was passionate about serving on Gate City Bank’s Military Support Committee, among other initiatives. Outside of work, she has served on boards for Dakota Medical Foundation, North Dakota State University College of Business, North Dakota Bankers Association, YWCA Cass Clay, ShareHouse and Access of the Red River Valley.
In her free time, Meyer loves walking, being at the lake, riding in her 1967 Ford Mustang and spending time with her significant other, Randy Jenson, and Izzy, her Bernedoodle.
